Frame Head Stock

Here at Chirco Performance we offer these stock replacement early model link pin front axle beam assembly frame heads, there are actually a couple of uses for these frame heads and I will touch on these for you, obviously if you've been in a front end collision and the frame head has been damaged than a new one will fix that issue, you would simply follow the body line on the floor pan cutting the old damaged or rusted frame head off and welding this one directly in its place, another common use for these Volkswagen floor pan frame heads is when building Volkswagen Baja bugs, the strongest front suspension for a Baja bug is the pre-1965 link pin front end rather than the later 1966 ball joint front end. And the best off-road rear suspension would be on a 1969 and later VW beetle, these rear suspension are called independent rear end suspension, also known as IRS. Now to have both you would have to do some fabricating, the easiest way to build a VW Baja bug and have the best of both worlds suspension wise would be to start with a 1969 or later VW beetle so that you have the IRS rear suspension and cut off the frame head of that car so that you could use a link pin front end in its place of the ball joint front-end that would be on that 1966 and later VW beetle. I'm sure this sounds kind of confusing however we have done it here at our shop several times for our customers. Please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-955-9795 with any questions
